about the project
tigue's self-titled is a collection of hypnotic compositions rendered in ecstatic complexity. like it's members (Amy Garapic, Carson Moody, and Matt Evans), the music is honest and radiantly affirming; an intricate patchwork where instrumental lines and textures, like uniquely patterned autonomous organisms, go in and out of alignment to produce a vibrating landscape. the music is ambient, rhythmic, minimal, angular, exuberant and ultimately universal.
the pieces in this collection are constructed through human relationships. contemporary music making carries with it an expectation of synthesis and digitization, but in this album these elements are limited. tigue writes with a sense of primacy — together, in a room, with vibraphones, drums, synthesizers, gongs and garbage — and each sound stays intimately connected with it's personal signature. throughout these tracks, tigue (often identifying as a percussion trio) transcends the limitations and expectations of their instrumentation through ingenuity and collaboration to construct trance-inducing soundscapes beyond categorization.
in a sense, the album is a luminous, abstract, non-narrative object (or fluid musical entity) that funnels inspiration from pattern, landscape, object, and humanity.

· [ Triangle ]
is a polygon with three edges and three vertices. It is one of the basic shapes in geometry.
· [ Contrails ]
are line-shaped clouds sometimes produced by aircraft engine exhaust, typically at aircraft cruise altitudes several miles above the Earth's surface. Contrails are composed primarily of water, in the form of ice crystals.
· [ Quilts ]
are multi-layered textiles, traditionally composed of three layers of fiber: a woven cloth top, a layer of batting or wadding, and a woven back, combined using the technique of quilting, the process of sewing the three layers together. Occasionally, the three layers of the quilt are tied together using evenly spaced knots rather than sewn. Historically, quilts were frequently used as bedcovers; this use persists today, but in the twenty-first century, quilts are also frequently displayed as non-utilitarian works of art.
