Dig into this layered cake of hypnotic syncopations, bass lines, and horn stabs from three of Brooklyn’s most prolific trance inducers — Tigue, Innov Gnawa and Underground System. These three groups link up for a sugary, frosting covered night of mystic sufi dance traditions, tight-knit afro-beat grooves and ncessant rhythmic intoxication.

TIGUE X Randy Gibson: Resonating Apparitions

  • Wild Project

TIGUE performs the World Premiere of a new work for percussion, harmonic resonators, and projection by time-artist Randy Gibson.

This immersive performance in harmonic time, The Four Pillars Appearing from The Resonating Discs invoking The 72:81:88 Confluence in a setting of Quadrilateral Starfield Symmetry ATS4 Base 6:81 explores new methodologies in Randy Gibson’s ongoing work to expand and reconstruct the perception of the passage of time. Performed by TIGUE on nine metallic instruments discretely amplified to highlight the resonance of The Four Pillars from within the rich overtone cloud, the work asks performer and audience alike to consider their own perception of time and change.

Performance takes place at 8PM on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at The Wild Projectt: 195 East 3rd Street.
Tickets: $21 ($14 for students and seniors) are available from avantmedia.org/tickets

  • Prospect Park Bandshell

The innovative trio TIGUE opens: half new music ensemble, half art-rock band, they unite a homegrown ethos and conservatory precision to create something magical. The group’s debut album Peaks (New Amsterdam Records, 2015) is “an imaginative, distinctive, hypnotic yet kinetic blend of indie classical, minimalism, post-rock and drone music.” (New York Music Daily).

The unique and ravishingly beautiful THE HUBBLE CANTATA combines music, electronics, filmed sequences with rarely seen photographs and footage from the Hubble telescope, and sung poetic movements to transport the audience to the far reaches of the cosmos. A portion of the work, which is composed by Paola Prestini and features film by Eliza McNitt, is designed to be viewed in virtual reality--VR headsets will be given out on site. The stunning visuals, combined with performances by Nathan Gunn, Jessica Rivera, the Norwegian orchestra 1B1, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, will make for a once-in-a-lifetime event.
